When Crave Saskatoon opened Thursday morning, our goal was to bake as many cupcakes as we could with 100% of cupcake sales benefiting the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and those touched by the Humboldt tragedy. We were ready to bake a lot of cupcakes but nothing could have prepared us for the overwhelming response from the Saskatoon community. All day long the bakery was filled with customers, friends and family who were brought together by care and love for their community.
An hour after opening, it was clear we had to bake more, so we did. And then we baked again. By the end of the day, our small but mighty team of 6 women had baked three times as many cupcakes as we had expected to for the day. We are so humbled to share that with the help of our customers we raised almost $5,000 for the SJHL. Yesterday our store was a place for the community to gather, and we hope that in addition to the donations our customers made the cupcakes they took home were all the sweeter.
Today our goal was to show our support for those touched by the Humboldt Tragedy by doing what we do best, bake cupcakes.
Thank you Saskatoon! #humboldtstrong
