IWD 2020: Women's Leadership Panel Luncheon
Meet panelist Kara Angus (President, Go-Go Group Inc.):
Kara Angus, president of Go-Go Group Inc., a multi-divisional company focused on childcare, entertainment and gymnastics, began her journey at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), obtaining a BBA in 2005 and an MBA in 2006. In 2006, Kara won 1st place ($20,000 prize) in the entrepreneurship competition from the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation and started her business soon after. Go-Go Group Inc. has since grown to service thousands of children and employs 100+ young leaders.
Along with being the founder of her ever-expanding business, Kara is also highly involved in her community. She is an instructor within the Faculty of Business Administration at UNB, where she is known for delivering real-life business experience through courses in Marketing and Entrepreneurship.
Kara is also an order member of the Wallace McCain Institute Entrepreneurial Leaders Program; a program designed to give high potential entrepreneurs what they need to succeed. In addition, Kara has been a volunteer with the local Junior Achievement council as an ambassador and member of the Board of Directors since 2007. Kara also volunteers at 20+ of Go-Go-sponsored annual charitable events.
Throughout Kara’s entrepreneurial journey, she has received several awards including: RBC Women Entrepreneur of the Year Award – Atlantic Recipient & National Finalist (2017), the Award of Distinction, Entrepreneur of the Year, Atlantic Canada CBDC (2016), New Brunswick Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award – N.B. CBDC (2016), Intermediate Business Award – Fredericton Chamber of Commerce (2012), Emerging Enterprise Business Award - Saint John Board of Trade (2011), and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award – N.B. CBDC (2011).
