1. I had no plan at all. I just expected everything to go right back to where I left off. I had never even heard of a pelvic floor physio therapist!
2. I waited the 6 full weeks to get “clearance” to get back to fitness, and there was no real explanation to what that meant for me. And then after a green light I thought that meant I could do EVERYTHING right away.
3. I got back to moving exactly how I did before I was pregnant, demanded a LOT of myself, and got really frustrated when I just “couldn’t” do certain things.
4. Through all of this I developed symptoms that could have been avoided (hello umbilical hernia and DR that ended up taking a long time to address).
This was all just 4 years ago, and it’s mind blowing to see the amount of information sharing that has developed between fitness professionals, therapists and mums. It’s an entirely different Postpartum world out there!
Needless to say, Ive made it a personal mission of mine to keep mums from learning the same hard lessons that I did. This year I officially became a certified #pregnancyandpostpartumathleticsm coach, and starting May 1st, I’ll be inviting all new mums/athletes returning to fitness (regardless of how far along you are Postpartum) to join me from home to rehab,rebuild, learn and share alongside trusted Pelvic Floor Physio - Paige Martin
I have broken down the first four weeks of training into 12 at home live group workouts, and 4 live educational webinars/Q+A . My goal in this is to ensure that ALL mums have access to as much knowledge and feedback from proper sources as possible, despite being restricted to our homes - we can still do this together!!
