At the Winnipeg Humane Society, we deal with broken bones, cuts, scrapes and many other visible injuries. In many cases, we cannot see an animal’s pain. Heartworm in a dog is potentially fatal if left untreated. Even though we cannot see it, we know it’s there. And it is our duty to help them.

Harvey is one of 33 dogs we have treated for heartworm in 2016, a 120% increase in the number of cases we saw from last year. Harvey looks happy and healthy on the outside, but he is being attacked inside. Treating heartworm is both time consuming and expensive. We have spent over $31,000 on the treatment and care for these 33 dogs. We do this, because they need us. And today, on Giving Tuesday, we need you.

We have reached over half of our $10,000 goal to help dogs with heartworm. Today I humbly ask you to think of dogs like Harvey, who need our help. Can you help us save more hearts?
